SUEDE CARING

Through regular wear, suede begins to change. It softens, and areas that are touched more often may look slightly flatter. This is a natural part of the material. It does not stay exactly as it started, and that shift is expected over time.

With this in mind, caring for suede is less about preserving its original state, but more about keeping it in good condition as it moves through daily use. What follows is a quick guide to help suede pieces wear well over time.

CHOOSING SUEDE PIECES

Choosing a suede pieces is leans more on how it fits into your everyday.  A larger bag works when you tend to carry more, holding daily essentials and a little extra. Smaller ones feel lighter, keeping only what you need. Structured shapes feel slightly more put together, while slouchy forms sit more relaxed and effortless.

When it comes to sandals, mules feel simple and easy to slip into, while fisherman sandals offer a bit more structure and coverage.

Color also plays a part when choosing as well. Black and deep brown are easy to wear across different settings. They blend in without much thought. Lighter tones like Sandy Suede or Latte feel more delicate. They carry a certain softness, but also need a bit more care in the way they are used.

COLORS MIGHT TRANSFER

Suede can transfer its own color onto clothing, especially when new, darker in tone, or exposed to moisture. This can happen through movement and friction, particularly during the first few uses.

Meanwhile, it can also pick up color from other materials, as its soft, open surface tends to absorb dye from fabrics it comes into contact with. This is more noticeable with lighter shades, when worn with materials like denim. Wearing it with similar tones, or applying a light suede protector, helps reduce this.

KEEP AWAY FROM WATER Water can leave marks and affect the texture, so it is better to avoid wearing it in the rain when possible.
LET IT DRY NATURALLY If it does get wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid heat or direct sunlight.
CLEAN DRY WITH A SUEDE OR LIGHT BRUSH After use, a light brush can help remove dust and lift the texture. It does not need to be done every time, just often enough to keep it looking even. For small marks, a suede brush or eraser is usually enough.
STORE IN A DRY AND BREATHABLE PLACE When storing, keep suede in a dry and breathable space. Avoid anything that traps moisture. A dust bag works well, especially when left slightly open so air can pass through. If the bag needs support, placing something soft inside helps it keep its shape over time.
