KNÓT BAG IN THE MAKING
1. Choosing Fabric: The first step in making a leather bag is always selecting the appropriate fabric. Full grain leather is the type of fabric that comes to our mind from the very begining since it is well-known for high quality and durability, making it suitable for creating long-lasting bags. It took us 3 times to select the final fabric due to the differences in term of the softeness and smooth finish.
2. Planning the Shape, Making Paper Pattern and Cutting: Our purpose is creating the bag that can carry the daily essentials so 3D bag shape is chosen. Once the leather has been selected, Anh Tai - our designer plans the shape and carefully cut the leather into the desired shapes and sizes basing on the paper pattern. Precision is crucial in this step to ensure a clean and accurate outcome.
3. Sewing and assembling the bag: After cutting the leather pieces, they are sewn together using a sewing machine or hand stitching. Special attention is given to stitching techniques and seam finishes to ensure durability and strength. The main parts of the bag, such as the front, back, bottom, and sides, are assembled together. Our assemblers work very hard to ensure that the dimensions and alignment are in accordance with the desired shape and style.
4. Finishing Touches and Detailing: After the bag is fully assembled, special attention is given to the finishing touches and detailing. The leather edges are burnished or painted, any loose threads are trimmed, and the bag is cleaned and polished to give it a refined and professional appearance.
5. Quality Control and Inspection: Before the bag is deemed ready for sale, it undergoes a thorough quality control and inspection process. This includes checking the stitching, hardware attachments, and overall construction for any defects or imperfections. Only bags that meet the desired standards are deemed acceptable for retail.
